Sign the petition: Stop stock trading by members of Congress
Our representatives in Congress are there to represent us. They're not there to pad their own wallets.
And yet, we see it again and again: They're trading on inside information, confidential (and even classified) briefings, which means that Members of Congress have far better investment returns than the general public.
That's just wrong.
Please sign my petition demanding a law to ban stock trading by Members of Congress.
Remember this one? In 2020, just at the beginning of the pandemic, 75 lawmakers held stock in vaccine makers like Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and Pfizer. Many trades were made while the world watched in uncertainty. Millions of dollars changed hands.
That's a conflict of interest. We should expect our leaders to work for us, not benefit from their positions.
I support tough laws that would bar members of Congress from holding or trading individual stocks. And the majority of Americans do, too.
Let's get it done.
Please sign my petition and urge Congress to take action immediately.
